Oscar winner and frequent Hamptons habitue Julie Andrews is heading to the big screen, after about a decade away. Actually, it’s more like voicing to the big screen, but we still think that’s pretty supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
Dear Dame Julie (who possesses an astounding four-octave singing ability) will be voicing the role of Karathen–the undersea creature who holds the key to Arthur Curry’s (played by lead actor Jason Momoa) quest to unite the Atlantean and surface worlds–in “Aquaman.” Awesome. Her latest movie endeavors include voicing characters in “Despicable Me 3,” Shrek Forever After,” and the Netflix series “Julie’s Greenroom.”
“Aquaman, “which opens on December 21, also stars Amber Heard, Nicole Kidman, Willem Defoe, Djimon Hounsou, Patrick Wilson and … wait for it … Dolph Lundgren. Wowsa, what an eclectic mix! Amazon Prime members get to preview it in advance screenings starting December 15. Interesting.
Side note: the “Mary Poppins” reboot, starring Emily Blunt, Meryl Streep, Angela Lansbury, Emily Mortimer, Colin Firth, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and Dick Van Dyke, among others, opens on December 19.
