Wouldn’t it be great if summer were a season that we could take off and solely do all the fun things that we associate with it. Beach time, cookouts, gatherings with friends, hikes and bike rides and getting and keeping in shape. And of course, all the benefits, concerts, events and parties. But alas, there’s even more work to be done and I am not ready for summer to be winding down quite yet. Noooooo!
Here’s are two of the many, many items on the agenda for today:
The 69th annual Artists & Writers Softball Game will be played today at Herrick Park in East Hampton. Aside from being lots of fun, silly antics and sport, this terrific event benefits East End Hospice, the Eleanor Whitmore Early Childhood Center, Phoenix House and The Retreat.
And of course, there’s the annual Animal Rescue Fund of The Hamptons Bow Wow Meow Ball. Held this year in honor of Nan Bush and Bruce Weber–both long-time ARF supporters who have incorporated their love for animals into their celebrated projects in film and photography over the course of their 45-year collaboration–to be held at the ARF Adoption Center in Wainscott tonight starting at 6:30 p.m.
Guests will enjoy cocktails, followed by dinner catered by Cloud Catering & Events featuring sustainable fish and vegan specialties within an elegant setting created by David Monn and Alex Papachristidis. Afterwards, the party will continue with dancing to music by the Peter Duchin Orchestra. Over 400 high-profile guests from New York and the Hamptons are expected to attend the magical night. All proceeds will benefit ARF, a regional leader in New York for the rescue and adoption of cats and dogs. I heart ARF!
