Bay Street Theater in Sag Harbor opens “The Scarlet Letter” today. The Literature Live! performance stars Chloe Dirksen (yay for you Chloe!!) as Hester Prynne, a married woman who becomes a social outcast. After an adulterous affair, she conceives a daughter during her husband’s long absence. She is required to wear the letter “A” for adultery on the breast of her gown. Refusing to name the father, Hester is forced to live a life set apart from nearly everyone she knows. The show stages through November 26.
Feel like heading into the city for a good cause? Tonight’s a good night for it, as the Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation will host its 19th Annual Benefit Dinner & Auction. The evening, which starts with cocktails at 6:30 p.m. at Cipriani Wall Street, will be held in honor of footwear industry icon and former Hamptons resident Vince Camuto and will be hosted by Chris Wragge of CBS 2 News show “This Morning, plus Roger Daltrey of The Who will also perform.
