The Town of Southampton’s new Tri-Energy program is hosting a “Fly a Kite” event on Thursday, August 30, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Long Beach in Sag Harbor. The event is meant to bring awareness and to decrease the energy demand on the power grid during peak usage time.
In an attempt to reduce that demand and to raise awareness, Tri-Energy is inviting residents to turn up their a/c thermostats to a warmer setting (up 2 degrees or more) in order to reduce the demand on the energy grid on Tuesday, August 30th from 4 to 6 pm and then join other like-minded community members (Bring the Kids!) at an event at Long Beach in Sag Harbor and “fly a kite” at the beach to cool off. FREE kites will be provided for the first 50 participants. No beach permits are needed to park at the North End of the parking lot to participate in this event.
Those who attend will also learn how to sign up for a free home energy audit and free rooftop solar evaluation as part of the Tri-Energy program.
