Purpled Pheasant Productions is staging the genius comedy “The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged),” which ran to rave reviews and an impressive 9-year run on London’s West End, in the Hamptons this summer. The uproarious slapstick romp, which lovingly parodies the greatest words of The Bard, will stage at the Southampton Cultural Center in Southampton Thursdays through Saturdays from July 14 -31.
The show—a wild and fun homage to Shakespeare’s canon, laden with physical comedy, fast-and-furious entrances and exits and hot costume changes—follows three enthusiastic but hilariously misinformed actors who attempt to stage all of Shakespeare’s 37 plays in comically “abridged” form. The brand-new company, staging its inaugural season at the Southampton Cultural Center, brings fresh new Equity talent and Broadway-caliber productions to the East End.
“The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged)” stars Ian Harkins, Rafe Terrizzi and Shannon Harris. The show is directed by Craig George, and produced by Purpled Pheasant Productions with Mr. Harkins, Kimberly Loren, and Mr. Terrizzi, in partnership with the Southampton Cultural Center. The show will stage at the Southampton Cultural Center in Southampton Thursdays through Saturdays from July 14 -31. Show times are 7:30 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays and 5 p.m. on Sundays.
