What fun we had last night at White’s Apothecary in Southampton in the name of raising money and awareness for The Retreat. It was great to see friends old and new (including the fabulous Kate Mueth of Neo-Political Cowgirl fame, Colleen DeBaise of my new favorite blog Hampton Bee, Maggie Goldfarb from The Retreat and Nicole Barylski from Hamptons.com). And the mini facial and hand rub were pretty darn terrific too!
What I like the most about White’s is that it’s all about real personal connection, coupled with true expertise, and authentic passion and care. Hey, that also sounds like what The Retreat is all about. Cool how that worked out so nicely.
Happy Cinco de Mayo! I’ve got two fun things for you to do tonight if you happen to be in the mood for celebrating.
La Fondita in Amagansett is offering holiday specials today. Yumtastic! Here are a few things from the menu: Tamal de Pollo en Salsa Verde $12 (Tamale filled with chicken in a green sauce served with rice, whole black beans and a salad), Tamal de Rajas Con Queso $12 (Sautéed poblano peppers, tomatoes, onions and jalapeno served with rice, whole black beans and a salad), Torta De Chicharrones En Salsa Verde $9, Chiles En Nogada $14 (Stuffed poblano pepper with picadillo topped with a walnut cream sauce and pomegranate seeds, served with rice and refried beans), or Homemade Churros $3 (Three per order filed with vanilla cream).
Now I want Mexican food. Is it too early to sit in the parking lot and wait until opening time at 11:30? Hmmm.
Later tonight, head to Karamba in Hampton Bays for a Cinco de Mayo tequila and cocktail tasting event, sponsored by Hamptons.com (great to see you and your family last night Nicole!) and Espolon Tequila. Have a fiesta time but remember to drink responsibly.
