Move over Forbes, Business Insider is running its own list of the 25 Most expensive ZIP Codes in America.
This newest list is fairly similar to the original from Forbes, which comes out at the end of each year and tracks the top 500 ZIPs. The big difference is that Business Insider used Property Shark, which only looked at ZIPS where there were at least five sales, and Forbes used Altos Research, which analyzed median home price data for more than 29,500 ZIPs covering 95 percent of the nation.
It’s no big surprise that Sagaponack leads this new list too.
Coming in at number one, ZIP 11962 is the most expensive place in America to buy a home, according to the Business Insider list, which reports the median price of $8.5 million. The village is number two on the Forbes list, with a median price of $7.4 million.
The number seven spot is Bridgehampton. ZIP 11932 median price is a hair under $3 million. It made #26 in the Forbes ranking, with a median price of just under $4 million.
Shelter Island makes a surprising appearance as the tenth most expensive place to buy a home, according to Business Insider. The median sale price in 11965 is $2.8 million.
Water Mill takes the number 13 spot. ZIP 11976 has a median sale price of $2.6 million. It was number 18 on the Forbes list, with a hugely different median price of $4.2 million.
Wainscott (11975) didn’t make the newest list but it was #21 at $4.1 million in 2015, according to Forbes.
