Hey James Bond fans, Daniel Craig fans and Sam Smith fans, I don’t know where the Hamptons connection is but Sony just sent me this video of how “Writing’s on the Wall” from “Spectre” is “meant to be heard.”
The song, with music and lyrics by Sam Smith & Jimmy Napes, has been nominated for an Academy Award, plus a Critics’ Choice award and it was the Golden Globe Winner this year. It’s also the first Bond theme song in history to reach number one on the UK singles charts in the first week of release. Oh, wait, there’s the Hamptons connection. Sir Paul McCartney has written a Bond ditty in his day. I can’t believe “Live and Let Die” didn’t already accomplish this mean feat. Hmmm.
For those who are interested, here are the Top 10 Bond theme songs, according to Billboard, circa 2012. The list is pre-Adele and “Skyfall.” Too many deadlines today for me do any more research.

Let’s end with our favorite local Beatle. I love this song!
