I’m so glad to see so much positive press about the new book, “Before I Forget: Love, Hope, Help, and Acceptance in Our Fight Against Alzheimer’s” by B. Smith and Dan Gasby, with Michael Shnayerson.
All three are East End residents, and all three are people of considerable talents and integrity. The book, which is about Ms. Smith’s and Mr. Gasby’s experiences with her early-onset Alzheimer’s, is gripping, powerful and quite moving. It must have been a hard story to tell. But the result–bringing this terrible disease into the light–must also be rewarding in its own way. My hat’s off to these truly lovely people, and my heart is full of positive thoughts for those who must face this incredibly difficult challenge.
The Sag Harbor-based couple have been doing their part to bring awareness to the plight of those who suffer at the hands of Alzheimer’s. Here’s a clip of them on the Today show.
