One of the funnest food events to hit the East End is nearly upon us. That’s right, Edible East End’s fourth annual Great Food Truck Derby rolls into town tomorrow, Friday, August 14, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Hayground School in Bridgehampton. Oh how I love this event, which always delivers a great time and a wide selection of ethnic and local mobile eats, plus regional wine and craft beer.
This year’s participants will include: Eat Me Drink Me, Whole Le Crepe, Hampton Coffee Co., Blondies Bakeshop, Hamptons Foodie, Coolhaus, Pizza Luca, noah’s, Grill Boys Food Truck, Slammin Slider Nice Buns, The Inn Spot… Out, Ponti Rossi, Hamptons Aristocrat, The Sea Bean Natural Foods Co., Sweet’tauk, Long Island Oyster Co., Passed Snacks, Old School Favorites, Sydney’s Sweets, Brooklyn Brewery, Saranac, Coney Island Brewing Co., Southampton Publick House, Wölffer Estate and Bridge Lane.
Admission is $65 per person and includes one serving at every food truck and complimentary beverages. Ticket availability is limited and can be purchased at http://bit.ly/1g63wFN. The price for kids 12-years-old and under is $20. In addition, VIP tickets are available for $100 offering access to the food trucks starting at 3:30 p.m. The event will coincide with the Hayground School Community farmers market. Also this year, the Luca718 team from Brooklyn will be on the scene, engaging children in creative work with blocks, trucks and art, set in and around their 70-foot big rig, Big Mama. The educational work space, camped out at Hayground this summer, will be onsite through Friday, August 21. Learn more at www.luca718.com.
And lastly, it’s time for a well deserved shoutout to friend and food and wine writer Eileen Duffy, who is not only the editor of Edible East End (LOVE that magazine!!) and Edible Long Island, but also the author of the fabulous new book “Behind the Bottle: The Rise of Wine on Long Island.” Cheers to you Eileen!!
