Just as I was getting ready to post about how super excited I am to share the news that Kate Mueth & the Neo-Political Cowgirls have not only partnered with The Retreat and Dodds & Eder in support of “V-Day, One Billion Rising” event to end violence against women, I happened to see Kate’s Facebook post that her “Project Hero” anti-bully/ empathy building intensive theater workshop has been awarded a substantial grant to be implemented into four local schools.
Great news and FANTASTIC JOB Kate!!! Solidarity sister!
According to Kate’s post, the gift, granted by The Greater East Hampton Education Foundation, “is powerful in not only its generosity, but also in the commitment it gives to our community of children for a future full of promise with better tools to approach and deal with the issue of bullying and communication.” Project Hero was developed and directed by Kate for Guild Hall of East Hampton and the Hamptons International Film Festival.
As for “One Billion Rising,” that cool, female empowering event will be held on Friday, February 13, at Dodds & Eder in Sag Harbor from 5 to 7 p.m. The family-friendly performances will include a flash mob dance, poetic readings, and musical performances by Skylar Day, Lynn Blue and the East Hampton High School Key Club, in addition to the Neo-Political Cowgirls. “One Billion Rising” is the brainchild of Eve Ensler, the creator of “The Vagina Monologues.”
