I’m so excited that “The World Goes ‘Round” opens TONIGHT at the Southampton Cultural Center. Directed by Michael Disher, the Kander and Ebb musical stars the local talents of Richard Adler, Isabel Alvarez, Holly Marie Dunn, Sharon Mulvaney, Jaclyn Randazzo, Mary Sabo, Jack Seabury, Kyle Sherlock, Josephine Wallace and Edna Winston. The show will stage through November 9, so be sure to make time to go see this musical theater extravaganza soon! www.scc-arts.org.

* Coming up on Saturday, Guild Hall in East Hampton will host a reception for “New Additions to the Guild Hall Museum Permanent Collection 2010-2014” from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Works by artists Jennifer Bartlett, Victor Caglioti, Jack Ceglic, Chuck Close, Carolyn Conrad, Robert Dash, Rafael Ferrer, Eric Fischl, Cornelia Foss, Ellen Frank, Margaret Garrett, Ralph Gibson, April Gornik, Bernard Gotfryd, Balcomb Greene, Robert Harms, Mary Heilmann, Claus Hoie, Bryan Hunt, William King, Gloria Kisch, Barbara Kruger, Christa Maiwald, Jane Martin, Mercedes Matter, Thomas Moran, Jeff Muhs, Ruth Nasca, Costantino Nivola, Alfonso Ossorio, Betty Parsons, Joel Perlman, Joe Pintauro, Daniel Pollera, Larry Rivers, Clifford Ross, David Salle, Carol Saxe, Joel Shapiro, Drew Shiflett, Racelle Strick, Susan Vecsey, Esteban Vicente, Frank Wimberley and Larry Zox will be included. www.guildhall.org

* The first big Halloween bash of 2014 on my particular interest radar will be held at the Southampton Arts Center on Saturday, October 25, from 7 p.m. to midnight. The event will include dancing, food and drinks, costume competitions and even a haunted house. Yes please. www.southamptonartscenter.org

* Speaking of the spooky stuff, “Frankenstein Follies” returns to Bay Street Theater in Sag Harbor for its 20 season this weekend. The show will stage on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. There will also be a special 20th anniversary performance and benefit reception on Saturday, October 25, at 7:30 p.m. www.baystreet.org

* Lastly, one of my very favorite local “holidays” for this time of year (not counting the Dawnapalooza countdown to my November birthday) is just around the corner.
