What a wonderful time we have here in the Hamptons in the summer. I’m so excited for these four events–Dan’s Grill Hamptons and Taste of Two Forks, and fun fundraisers for the venerable Bay Street Theater an Parrish Art Museum–that I can barely stand it! Hope to see you there.
* Dan’s is kicking off its Taste of Summer double-header tonight with Grill Hamptons. Hosted by the Food Network’s Robert Irvine of “Restaurant Impossible,” it’s Hamptons vs. NYC as GrillHampton pits 8 East End chefs against 8 Manhattan chefs in a one-of-a-kind cooking competition and tasting event at Sayre Park in Bridgehampton on Friday, July 11, from 8 to 11 p.m. Hamptons chefs include: Old Stove Pub’s Emanouil Aslanoglou, A Mano’s Tom Schaudel, caterer Peter Ambrose Rumba’s David Hersh, The Palm’s Victor Tapia, 1 North Steakhouse’s Chris Cariello, Delmonico’s Billy Oliva, and Smokin’ Wolf’s Arthur Wolf . NYC Chefs include Justin Medina of Toloache, Harold Moore of Commerce, Michael DeFonzo of P.J. Clarke’s, Gabe Thompson of Epicurean Group, Elizabeth Karmel of Hill Country Boutique, Paul Denamiel of Le Rivage David Standridge of Market Table and Ben Zwicker of T Bar. * Tomorrow night, July 12, the super successful Taste of Two Forks, also by Dan’s, returns. Yum, yum, yum! Hosted by Food Network’s “The Kitchen” talent Katie Lee and Geoffrey Zakarian, the event will also be held in Sayre Park in Bridgehampton. Taste the very best from Top Chefs, Great Winemakers and over 40 of the finest restaurants from the North and South Forks. * Bay Street will host its 23rd annual Summer Gala on Saturday, July 12, starting at 6 p.m. on the Long Wharf in Sag Harbor. The fundraiser will honor Kate Burton, April Gornik and Sheldon Harnick. Presenters will include Bob Balaban, Marsha Norman and Richard Kind. This year’s benefit will feature a farm-to-table dinner prepared by Hamptons Chef Peter Ambrose, dancing with the Nancy Atlas Band, live entertainment by Broadway stars–Tony award-winning actress and singer Patina Miller, and Obie award winner and actress and singer Tovah Feldshuh, who will also act as celebrity auctioneer. Statues of “Writers Group 1&2″ of The Potluck Players by Dorothy Frankel will greet the guests at the entrance. http://www.baystreet.org
* The Parrish Art Museum’s annual Midsummer Party will be held at the museum in Water Mill on Saturday, July 12, starting at 6:30 p.m. This year, the honorees include philanthropist Inga Maren Otto and award-winning author and filmmaker Katharina Otto-Bernstein. An After Ten Party will also be on the schedule this year for those in the mood for dancing and dessert.Fun! Food by Olivier Cheng Catering & Events, entertainment by Coleman Music and MoveOpolis!
