Food For Thought From Bobby Flay

Amagansett’s Bobby Flay is adding another eatery to his restaurant empire. No, it’s not at the old Espresso location in Sag Harbor, it’s on Lafayette Street in the city and it’s called Gato.
The Spanish/Mediterranean bistro (which incidentally means “cat” en Espanol) is expected to open in the next week or so, though it’s already been the host to Bon Appetit’s “Vegas Uncork’d” event on Thursday night.
The 150-seat restaurant has a partially open kitchen and lots of plush leather booths. Like the rest of Flay’s many successful ventures–oh, how I loved Mesa Grill back in the day–Gato looks to be inviting and casually comfortable. Can’t wait to try it out.
