Debbie Harry, the original queen of punk, is proving at age 68 that you’re never too old to rock the house.
I just caught her appearance on “Project Runway All Stars” and was blown away by how amazing she looked. Love, love, loved that bouffant hairstyle she was sporting. Who knew that the nod to retro could look so chic and new, and literally take decades off your age? Blondie, that’s who.
I never got a chance to see the band at CBGB, having moved to Manhattan too many years after they made the land of OMFUG–which stands for Country Bluegrass Blues and Other Music For Uplifting Gormandizers, by the way–famous but I did get to see Debbie and Chris Stein at the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center a couple of years ago and they were amazing. That’s where I took the attached photo, about a half an hour before Debbie utterly transformed herself before the show.
Look for Blondie a lot more in the news in the next few months, as the band’s 10th studio album, “Ghosts of Download,” is planned for a January 2014 release. Fans will surely be “Dreaming” of “Rapture.”
