Two Lauers actually took the field yesterday at the annual Artists & Writers Game: Matt umped from behind the pitcher’s mound and his son Jack–a dead ringer for his dad–shagged balls for famed sports writer Mike Lupica during batting practice.
Another great pre-game moment with Mr. Lupica came when award-winning local radio host and personality Bonnie Grice hand-delivered an 88.3 WPPB Peconic Public Broadcasting tee-shirt to him, which he wore during warm-ups. The former A&W Game MVP had called in to the radio station (where the Hamptons Party Girl joins the oh-so-talented Ms. Grice just about every Friday for an hour of Media Mavens time) last week during the quarterly fund drive and pledged money to the NPR outlet. Thanks for the support Mike!
Thanks also to Lisa Tamburini, who hit a home run with her game coverage yesterday while I was on the injured list.
